Meet Lisa Foley
End-of-Life Doula
Lisa is an Irish-Australian, dedicated End-of-Life Doula serving the Hunter region. She is passionate about empowering others to make informed decisions about their end-of-life journey. Lisa’s mission is to provide compassionate, non-medical support and guidance to those navigating the final stages of life. As a trained end-of-life doula and registered nurse with over 30 years’ experience, Lisa will utilise her impeccable skills and knowledge to support those with complex chronic medical, neurological or cancer diagnoses.
Lisa will respectfully advocate for all individual end-of-life choices, including dying at home and voluntary assisted dying. My service is about personalised care, giving people choice, capacity, and control.
There is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to ageing, receiving a life-limiting or terminal diagnosis, and approaching the end of life. We are individuals and deserve the best care and support at this time. If you want to understand your options and express your choices and preferences, you've come to the right place. I'm here to listen, understand, and discuss your unique situation. Get in touch today.
Person-centred, non-medical
Your story leads. I hold space, translate jargon when needed, offer options, and help you make informed decisions. I don’t diagnose, treat, or replace clinical care.
Collaborative care
I work with families, friends, and care teams to keep communication kind and clear, coordinate practical steps, and safeguard the wishes you’ve expressed.
Respect for culture and ritual
Your worldview sets the tone. I support the language, beliefs, and rituals that are meaningful to you — from quiet gestures to more formal ceremonies.
How I work
Not a medical, nursing, legal, or financial service
In my doula role I don’t provide clinical care, diagnoses, medications, legal advice, or financial planning. I can help you prepare questions and find the right professionals.
When I refer to other professionals
If needs sit outside my scope, I’ll suggest trusted services — palliative care teams, GPs, counsellors, spiritual carers, lawyers, or financial advisers. I also support conversations about Voluntary Assisted Dying within legal and clinical pathways.
Emergency boundaries
If anyone is unsafe or in immediate danger, call 000. I don’t provide crisis response or after-hours emergency services.
What I can and can’t do
About the Dara Knot
The Dara Knot is one of several Celtic symbols of strength.
The business name reflects my Irish heritage and the openness of the Irish to celebrating a life well lived through a wake.
